Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging period, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since that period of that year.

Victory also means Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, took control to push for a decider.

Moutet saved four early-game break points in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
